Twin brothers on the football field…
«Your head and your heart». Here's what it takes to be a good football player, according to Kiel and Tate Walker, twin brothers members of Hadley's football team, the Hawks.
The two young boys, who celebrated their 12th birthday last August, although rookies on the Junior varsity football team, are familiar to team sports. Both play soccer and rugby, even during the football season! Their schedule is so full that one week-end, they had to leave the rugby field to go play a football game!

But they love it! «Running and catching», here's what they both answer when asked what's fun about football. While Kiel is a starter on defence, Tate is one of the team's running back. Even though they like to help each other out, they are still brothers: «we do like to tackle each other», they admit!

To help them out, there is also their dad, Dennis Walker, who stared at Bishop’s winning the Peter Gorman Trophy for rookie of the year as a running back, and who is now a member of the coaching staff. «It's fun, it makes it a lot better», say Kiel and Tate about their dad being part of the team.

For the Walker family, football doesn't stop as soon as practice or the game is over. Once they get home, the front yard is also witness of the passion both the twins and their dad share.

But with football, rugby and school, time is sometimes missing: «You really have to concentrate», explain Kiel about homework! «We pretty much go home, have supper, do our homework and go to bed», adds Tate.
Goals to achieve
With five games played so far, the Hawks have two wins and three defeats. The last two games of the season are coming and according to Tate and Kiel, they won't be easy. The Hawks are playing Nicolas-Gatineau, as well as Symmes, two top ranked teams. Those games are crucial for the Hawks if they want to be part of the play-off.
For Tate and Kiel, the challenge is double. First, their team had the objective to win at least three of their games this season. Second, they both have a personal goal. Tate hopes to get five touchdowns this season. «So far I got four!», he says. For Kiel, the objective is to get one interception. «I almost got one last game!», he admits.

Despite their small height, there is no doubt that both brothers have heart, desire and wits «It gets scary, but mostly, you just think about it, you just do it!», they say.
